Alex & Rory’s Intimate Mount Baker Elopement | Bellingham, Wa
Just a little over an hour and a half from Bellingham is beautiful Mount Baker. I have spent the most time at Picture Lake and wandering around Heather Meadows, which is where you end up once Mount Baker Highway comes to an end. The drive is honestly pretty easy compared to other mountain roads and the views are absolutely spectacular. Plus very minimal hiking is involved!
This area is covered in snow from October - June, so if you are hoping to take photos up here, keep that in mind. Alex & Rory got married at the end of April, but their photos look like we were in a winter wonderland. Lucky for us, it wasn’t too cold at all! The overcast skies kept allowing patches of sunshine to peek through every now and then.
Alex & Rory decided to elope at Mount Baker and have a bigger celebration & reception with their families back in Texas. They had their time to really soak in getting married & then got to spend lots of quality time with their people later, which is such a smart idea. Rory’s best friend officiated & one of Alex’s close friends was there to witness and celebrate. I also got to sign as a witness!!
They had their favorite Pure Bliss cake — chocolate salted caramel. Pure Bliss is already such a Bellingham staple, but what makes this even more special is that Alex used to work there.
We had it all to ourselves up there. The day was sweet, quiet, and absolutely perfect.
Wanna go on an adventure with me??
I’ve lived in Bellingham for 7 years and have only taken photos at Artist Point once…and we didn’t make it far enough to see the iconic spot.. so if you’re interested in going this summer on a weekday at sunset, I’d be so down.
