Capturing Love at the Tulips: A Flower Garden Couples Session at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Are you wanting to take photos with your person this spring?

Spring is my favorite season, so it’s no surprise that one of my absolute favorite places to photograph couples is at Roozengaarde during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, Washington. The vibrant colors, thoughtfully curated display garden, and an endless sea of color in the fields is pretty hard to top!

If you’re hoping to plan a couples shoot in the Pacific Northwest during the spring, the Tulips are a great place to go! The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is a seasonal gem that beautifully captures the whimsy & joy in your love story. Whether you want to propose, take your engagement photos here, celebrate an anniversary, or take photos together just because — Roozengaarde is my #1 location recommendation :) Any portrait session booked here also includes a bundle of tulips!

How to have the Best Photo Session at the Tulips

  1. Avoid Weekends (if possible). The best time to go is during the week an hour or two before the fields close (6 or 7pm).

  2. Buy Tickets Online (they’re a few $$ cheaper!)

  3. Expect lots of other people to enjoy the tulips alongside you! It won’t be a private experience, but that’s the fun of it!

  4. Bring everything in with you: outfit changes, jackets, water, snacks, etc. You aren’t able to re-enter the fields once you’ve already used your ticket to enter.

  5. Have fun with your outfits! Brielle chose a blue dress for the first half of these photos because there are no blue tulips! Tore’s shirt had a minimal floral pattern. The second outfit was a whimsical floral dress. Now’s the time to go all out :)

Brielle & Tore

Brielle & Tore are two of the most genuine & joyful humans you’ll ever meet. I photographed their wedding in 2021 & I was so excited to take updated portraits for them last spring. While driving up from Seattle to the Tulips, Brielle got a notification from Shutterfly that we took their engagement photos 3 years ago!! The timing felt so special!! It made me reflect on all our other moments together since then. After their wedding, Brielle gifted family photos to her parents for Christmas, and last summer we took family photos for Tore’s family. Continuing to be a part of my couple’s lives is a big deal to me. I love these two so much. We had the best time at the tulips, but I’d have the best time with these two anywhere 🌷🥹

If you’ve made it this far…let’s plan your own session here :)
